Most COVID-19 patients who died in the hospital during the early phase of the pandemic were killed as a result of being put on a ventilator and developing secondary bacterial pneumonia, a condition called Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia (VAP), according to a new study published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation.
