What’s the number one threat to your success and happiness in life? It’s not unexpected life events, or even financial crisis. Instead, it comes down to others telling you that you can’t live your passion. It comes down to what I call ‘toxic relationships.’
I’ll never forget the story about the mother of a friend of mine, whose singing career was ruined by the toxic actions of one heckler. While she was, in fact, a beautiful singer, she relied heavily upon the opinions of others to tell her whether or not she was ‘good enough.’
One night, as she was singing her heart out, a heckler told her that she ‘couldn’t sing.’ Truthfully, he probably said a lot worse than that, but this was the gist of it.
What this man may have not realized at the time is that his toxic comments would ultimately prevent this woman from really ever singing again. Because she believed the words of this man over her own confidence, my friend’s mother was firmly convinced that she simply could not sing. It prevented her from following her passion in the way she really wanted to.
This may be an extreme example, but it ties into the mindset and lives of many individuals who have set aside their passion due to fear and doubt. This includes fear of losing income from a ‘stable’ job that you may hate.
As you will find in my video above, the answer is clear: it’s important to start giving value to others through living your passion — even if it means for just 15 minutes to an hour a day. It’s something that will make you happy, and something that should not be stripped away from you because someone says you ‘can’t do it.’
What do I mean by that? Even if you have a full time 9-5 job, it’s important to spend upwards of an hour or more each day doing something you’re passionate about. Is it painting? Writing? How about sharing the news about natural health with your friends?
The next step is to help share it with the world and enhance other’s lives through doing so. Maybe you write an inspiring novel, or paint a beautiful picture with some added symbolism? The easiest example can also be sharing articles like these on Facebook.
You can start living your passion at any time, and experiencing the benefits that come along with it. Give it a shot and let us know how it works for you!
