Military opposition groups, such as Free Syrian Army, Syrian Revolutionary Front, Jahbat al Nusra and the Islamic Front, are frequently recruiting Syrian children as soldiers and sex slaves. These groups are being funded by Western countries and some regional countries. The children undergo a religious indoctrination, and most of them are being brought to training camps, where they learn how to behave in combat. These training camps are taking a toll on most of the children. Children are a vulnurable part of society, they can be convinced, mislead and manipulated, especially in a war torned country.
The children are being attracted by well presented ideological propaganda, but also by poverty, orphanage, influence from other family members and by the promise of protection. After joining the military opposition groups, the children undrgo religious indoctrination, which is combined with abuse, sexual harassment and humiliation. It is almost certain the children who undergo such practices will be traumatized for the rest of their lives. The children that are ready for combat are being forced to participate in suïcide bombings, or military operations that most certain will result in mass casualties. Western countries support these groups since 2011.
