Michigan’s Attorney General to Document ‘Hate’ and ‘Bias’ While Surveilling Individuals and Groups on the SPLC’s Hate List

Critics are concerned that the collection of data could be weaponized to shut down conservatives and other groups who oppose abortion, gay marriage and immigration. Nessel said she would focus her surveillance on 31 Michigan organizations that appear on the Southern Poverty Legal Center's (SPLC) list of hate groups.
