Can The Democrats Prevent Another Decade Of Republican Gerrymandering?
As I mentioned this morning, Blue America had some significant successes with the state legislative candidates we championed this cycle-- although those were mostly seats in blue areas where progressive Democrats prevailed over conservative Democrats.

Neo-Liberalism Under Cover of Racism
It is indeed peculiar that Trump can be elected President on 47.4% of the popular vote. But not nearly as peculiar as that the Conservatives can have untrammelled power in the UK on 36.9% of the popular vote. Both electoral systems need reform, but the UK’s is absolutely indefensible. There is a tiny blogroll down the bottom right hand margin […]

Keiser Report: The ‘Gaddafi-like’ Political Career Death of Hillary Clinton
21st Century Wire says…
In 2011, then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made the grave error of publicly gloating over the gruesome death of Libya president Muammar Gaddafi. When asked to comment on what many in Washington claimed was a victory by destroying the nation state of Libya, Clinton famously cackled, “We came, we saw, he died!” -

Trump and Putin begin work on US-Russia reset
By M K Bhadrakumar | Indian Punchline | November 15, 2016 The Russian President Vladimir Putin made the long-expected phone call to the US president-elect Donald Trump on Monday. It stands to reason that the presidential spokesman in the Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov, one of Putin’s closest aides, travelled to New York last week ostensibly to […]

From The Mouths Of Babes... And Noam Chomsky
I was just watching a giant L.A. school district walk-out on TV, tens of thousands of students protesting Trump's odd and very questionable ascension to the presidency. L.A. students I've spoken with are worried about Trump's intolerance, xenophobia, racism, misogyny and homophobia and how that mindset may manifest itself as part of a policy agenda sure to be rubber-stamped for the next 2 years by a Republican Congress. But the other topic I heard from the majority of students I spoke with in the last week was Climate Change.

Break Up the Democratic Party: It’s Time for the Clintons and Rubin to Go – and Soros Too
Photo – Joshua Roberts, Reuters By Michael Hudson | CounterPunch | November 15, 2016 In the week leading up to last Tuesday’s election the press was busy writing obituaries for the Republican Party. This continued even after Donald Trump’s “surprising” victory – which, like the 2008 bank-fraud crash, “nobody could have expected.” The pretense is […]

It’s Worse Than You Think
Widespread social unrest will ignite when Donald Trump’s base realizes it has been betrayed. I do not know when this will happen. But that it will happen is certain. Investments in the stocks of the war industry, internal security and the prison-industrial complex have skyrocketed since Trump won the presidency. There is a lot of money to be made from a militarized police state.

Russian Spies and America’s Reality TV Election
Trump’s polite deference to Obama this week, and vice versa, shows in an unintended way what Obama meant when he said “we are all on one team”. That “team” is the American oligarchy. It is not the American nation. Disenfranchised working-class Americans may simply have gotten Trump into the “team” – against their genuine aspirations for radical democratic change.

Meet California’s 218,667 Public Employees Making Over $100,000/Year
Open the Books is back with another important government transparency report. This time, the organization looked closely at California payrolls, and found that 218,667 public sector employees earn six-figure salaries (in many cases far above that threshold), at a cost of $35 billion.
If Californians are fine with this sort of thing, more power to them, but it’s important to be knowledgable about where and how tax dollars are spent. -

Arrival (2016) – The Film’s Secret Meaning Explained
Jay Dyer

Words, or logoi, form the basis of all reality. I have written many times and even lectured on the doctrine of St. Maximos the Confessor concerning the archetypal patterns or logoi that form the divine ideas that undergird all reality. All these logoi are one in the Logos, and ultimately give all distinct objects their meaning and unity. -

A Proposed Trial of GMO Mosquitoes Divided Voters in Florida
Residents of the Florida Keys are at odds over whether a trial of GMO mosquitoes should move forward in the area. [1]
The proposed trial would take place in Key Haven, where the people of that community voted against the mosquitoes’ release on November 8. Sixty-five percent of voters shot down the ballot measure. However, 58% of voters in Monroe County favored the test. The final decision will go to the Florida Keys Mosquito Control Board. [2] -
