Georgia-US naval maneuvers under way off Batumi

Georgian and US naval forces are conducting maneuvers off Batumi’s coast in Georgia.
The event involves the USS Destroyer Bulkeley, which arrived at Batumi Port on August 10, and two motorboats of Georgia’s Coast Guard, a Georgian security service spokesman said.
The maneuvers include simulated security operations and measures to stop trespassing vessels.
Georgian firefighters also extinguished an imaginary blaze onboard the US ship.
The USS Bulkley crew earlier met with Georgian Border Police chief Koba Bochorishvili and other officials.
Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili attended a reception aboard the US ship on Sunday.
The US naval ship will leave Georgian territorial waters after the maneuvers are completed.
