Baku: NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said that during his visits to Norway and Denmark on August 14-15, they held discussions on strengthening of NATO and increasing investments in armed forces.
APA reports that Anders Fogh Rasmussen said in a video posted on YouTube his recent visits to European countries are part of preparation for the Wales Summit scheduled for September.
The secretary general said his visits were also aimed at strengthening cooperation among NATO’s members as well as its partners: “I also noted during my meetings with the member countries’ heads of state that our summit to be held in Wales will be one of the most important events in NATO’s history. We need to thoroughly prepare for this summit. We must increase investments in armed forces and closely cooperate with one another to ensure security. Russia’s aggressive policy against Ukraine makes us rethink about security. The members of NATO need to comprehend this responsibility and do their best to strengthen the alliance. I’m sure NATO isn’t going to lose its power and instead will develop even further. We’ll be able to protect our members and friends against any threat”.
