It is not uncommon for men to get lonely in jail, but a fired North Carolina police officer took it too far when he attempted to contact a now 15-year-old girl he impregnated.
James Blair, 51, is a former cop with the Lowell Police Department. PINAC News first reported on how he impregnated a 14-year-old girl in 2016.
Blair has been in prison since March 2017 after he plead guilty to felony statutory rape. He was sentenced to at least 12 years in prison.
Blair attempted to write his female victim a jailhouse style letter and he succeeded several times, sending the letters to family members with instructions to forward it to the teen victim.
Eventually, prison officials were able to intercept the letters before they even made it out of the prison.
But by then, Blair had already sent the girl several letters, even though the sentencing judge gave him specific instructions not to contact the victim.
Now he will have to serve an extra two years in prison.
Blair’s infractions are considered a Class B offense, which includes communicating directly, indirectly, via a third party, or in any manner with victims, or family members of the victims.
“I was amazed that he was stupid enough to do it,” said Gaston County District Attorney Locke Bell
The victim’s mother stated the following concerning the letters:
“It makes me want to kill him. Whatever with jail. Jail doesn’t mean anything. The man is still doing it. Apparently he’s getting by with everything. I called the prison several times and said there’s letters getting out. Every time I try to push this back out of my mind, he just continuously does this. This child is (now) 15 years old. This has made her sick.”
But even while Blair was in jail awaiting trial, he attempted to contact the victim via collect calls from the county jail, of course all of the calls were rejected.
