NATO’s 28-Nation Military Committee Heading To Georgia

On February 11-12, NATO Military Committee will pay an official visit to Georgia. The delegation of NATO Military Representatives will be led by Chairman of Military Committee, General Knud Bartels. Chief of General Staff of GAF, Major-General Vakhtang Kapanadze will host the Chairman of NATO MC.
On February 11, NATO top military official will meet Prime-Minister Irakli Gharibashvili and President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili in the Chancellery of Government of Georgia.
On February 12 General Knud Bartels will meet Minister of Defence Irakli Alasania. Following the meeting Chief of General Staff Major General Vakhtang Kapanadze and Chairman of NATO MC General Knud Bartels will hold a press-conference with media representatives after the meeting.
On the same day, MC session will be held in the Hotel “Radisson Blue Iveria” in the 28+1 format. Security of Georgia and defence transformation, Georgia`s contribution to the Euro-Atlantic security and future NATO-Georgia military cooperation issues will be discussed during the session.
After the session, State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Georgia Alex Petriashvili will host the NATO delegation members at the working lunch.
NATO MC will pay visit to Georgia for the first time. MC is the highest military authority of NATO. Its main function is to provide the North Atlantic Council with consensus-based military advise, and give clear military direction to NATO strategic commanders. The members of MC are the NATO member countries` military representatives.
