Las Vegas Cop Sexually Assaults Family Member then goes on SWAT Standoff with Police

What happens in Vegas is not staying in Vegas for this story, because a Las Vegas cop sexually assaulted his family member for years.
And the officer barricaded himself in his own home once he found out police were on the way to arrest him– prompting an hours long standoff.
Officer Bret Theil, 38, of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department was arrested on Thursday morning after he barricaded himself at his house to avoid being arrested for sexually abusing a member of his family from August 2005 to January 2017.  The victim was just 7 years old when the abuse began.
Thiel was tasked with guarding the door of gunman Stephen Paddock’s hotel room during the October 2017 Las Vegas shooting massacre at the  Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.
Theil earns a whopping 6-figure salary of $150,000 annually. But that figure will soon be $0 as Theil is expected to be fired.
On Wednesday February 7, 2018 Theil was at his Corn Creek Canyon area home when he got a call from his job that he had been indicted by a grand jury on several charges related to sexual assault of one of his minor family members. Thiel agreed to turn himself in, but never did.
Instead Thiel  sent a threatening email to his victim and then barricaded himself within his home claiming he was suicidal, reports Las Vegas Now.
So Las Vegas police arrived at Thiel’s home to apprehend him around 6pm. The SWAT team was even dispatched to try to extract Theil from the home. But he was not coming out easily as he stayed barricaded for 11 hours.
It was not until 5am the next morning that Thiel finally surrendered and accepted his fate.
Details about Theil’s charges have not been released yet because of the ongoing investigation.

“Due to the sensitive nature surrounding these charges, and the ongoing investigation, there will be no further information provided at this time,” North Las Vegas Police said in a statement.

Theil has been booked in the Las Vegas City Jail on six counts of first degree kidnapping, five counts of lewdness with a child under fourteen, six counts of sexual assault against a child under fourteen, four counts of sexual assault against a child under sixteen, four counts of sexual assault and two counts of child abuse or neglect.
Theil’s attorney, Craig Mueller, could not be reached for comment. But according to the court records, Mueller told the judge that Theil was not a flight risk or a danger to the community.
Chief District Judge Elizabeth Gonzalez set Theil’s  bail at $1 million.
