August 18, 2020 (Tony Cartalucci - LD) - Grayzone has exposed - in their video below as well as in an article - that a regular source of Western media propaganda regarding Hong Kong's ongoing US-backed unrest - Kong Tsung-gan - is actually American Brian Kern merely posing as a grassroots local Chinese protester.Kern was a former Amnesty International staffer - Amnesty International being a US-UK government controlled front posing as a "human rights advocacy"organization and specializing in the sort of political meddling Kern continued to do in Hong Kong. This might explain Brian Kern's aka "Kong's" support for Western meddling in the former British colony and his opposition to China's reclaiming of its own territory. Kern-Kong - like the US and British governments - demands China "honor" the parting demands of the British government who violently seized Hong Kong and illegally occupied the territory for decades.Image: To illustrate just how transparently controlled fronts like Amnesty International are by Western governments - Amnesty International USA was literally run by US State Department staff. Thus, Kern-Kong's background at Amnesty International and his current role meddling in China's internal politics comes as no surprise. Today's protests are not about "democracy" or "freedom" - two things US-backed mobs have denied their opponents and critics both online and in the streets - but about destabilizing China and hindering its rise upon the regional and global stage. The fact that Kern-Kong clearly was engaged in "coordinated inauthentic behavior" and the use of "fictitious personas" but has been protected by Facebook and Twitter while opponents of Western foreign policy have been purged on similar grounds - sums up just how superficial Western "democracy" and "freedom" are in practice.Kern is Kong, is an HKFP Writer, is "Coordinated Inauthentic Behavior," and the Use of "Fictitious Personas" It has since been reported by the Western media that "Kong Tsung-gan" has admitted his online identity is indeed a pen name and not his real identity and that he is a foreigner living in Hong Kong as a "permanent resident" all but confirming Grayzone's report. Both Kern and his alter-ego "Kong" have written for the pro-Western pro-opposition media front - Hong Kong Free Press (HKFP) - headed by Tom Grundy. The South China Morning Post in its article, "Hong Kong activist, writer ‘Kong Tsung-gan’ confirms that’s only a pen name; website says he’s really Brian Kern, an American," would note:
Grundy told the Post that the site had updated its references to Kong to indicate it was a pen name. The site had also published articles by Brian Kern, but Grundy did not say if he was aware that Kong and Kern were one and the same person.
Grundy's claims that he did not know Kern was "Kong" is unconvincing and Kern-Kong's activities together with a complicit HKFP fully embody the practice of "coordinated inauthentic behavior" and the use of "fictitious personas" deemed as grounds for account suspension by Facebook and Twitter.Yet all parties involved in this deception maintain their presence on Facebook and Twitter - and in good standing - while the same Western media that had used Kern-Kong as a source for years now mobilize a defense surrounding the need for using anonymity. The only problem is that very recently this same Western media had mobilized to justify Facebook and Twitter's various purges of accounts operating anonymously and accused of engaging in "coordinated inauthentic behavior" and the use of "fictitious personas." Double Standards - Purging Openly Anonymous Writers, Protecting Those Abusing Anonyminity I personally had accounts I used for over 10 years deleted by Facebook and Twitter for "coordinated inauthentic behavior" and using "fictitious personas."Facebook in its own official statement regarding my removal from their network claimed:
We removed 12 Facebook accounts and 10 Facebook Pages for engaging in coordinated inauthentic behavior that originated in Thailand and focused primarily on Thailand and the US. The people behind this small network used fake accounts to create fictitious personas and run Pages, increase engagement, disseminate content, and also to drive people to off-platform blogs posing as news outlets.
Facebook's statement is full of inaccuracies and outright lies. I am a single individual and I had only two Facebook accounts - one I used for writing under my pen name and a personal account I used under my real identity in order to keep my public and private life separate.Kern-Kong engaged in politics under his real name and his "pen name" - and used "Kong" merely to appeal to "native" authority he otherwise did not have as an American and former employee of Amnesty International. Unlike Kern, I have always openly stated that I write under a pen name. For the last 10 years I have even had my opponents try and guess (incorrectly) who I might really be. Unlike Kern, I have never lied about my background as an American living in Thailand or my former service in the US Marines.I operated several themed Facebook pages (LandDestroyer, AltThaiNews, etc.) from a single Facebook account - a feature Facebook itself created and encourages people to use.I most certainly did use these Facebook pages to "drive people to off-platform blogs" - literally every media organization on Earth that uses Facebook does - including The Economist which writes the majority of its content anonymously. Facebook attempts to make this sound sinister since there is little actual substance to what is otherwise clear-cut censorship. I likewise maintained three Twitter accounts all directly linked to my three blogs and my pen name - LandDestroyer, AltThaiNews, and LocalOrg - simply to help followers focus on the content they preferred and exactly how media organizations like CNN divide their online presence into "news," "business," "sports," etc.Yet my accounts were rounded up and deleted and while Facebook and Twitter claim it was unrelated to the content of my work they made sure to hint in their statement that my work was related to the "Russian government."Facebook's statement would note:
They also frequently shared divisive narratives and comments on topics including Thai politics, geopolitical issues like US-China relations, protests in Hong Kong, and criticism of democracy activists in Thailand.
Ironically, Facebook's statement also notes (emphasis added):
We identified these accounts through an internal investigation into suspected Thailand-linked coordinated inauthentic behavior. Our investigation benefited from information shared by local civil society organizations.
So "local civil society organizations" supporting those so-called "democracy activists in Thailand" aided Facebook in censoring views they didn't like. Much of my work - it should be pointed out - involves exposing the foreign funding and collusion of these "local civil society organizations" and so-called "democracy activists" which includes local staff working for Amnesty International. Clearly Facebook and Twitter - as if there was ever any doubt - are purging accounts that oppose Western narratives and interests - while protecting those that serve both - regardless of the actual practices used by either side.Notions like "coordinated inauthentic behavior" and "fictitious personas" are merely excuses used to justify purges already decided upon in advance because of the political nature of a targeted account's content - even when others like Kern-Kong and HKFP overtly deceive their audiences many times worse in reality than those being purged are accused of falsely.
