Intensive construction works on military bases
Intensive construction activities are underway at the military bases of Georgian Armed Forces. New canteens are being built, new barracks repaired and reconstructed. Irakli Alasania took a view of the infrastructural and repair-construction works going on at all the bases of the East Operative Command. The minister was informed about the current works and schedule of their completion.
Along with Minister of Defence, Deputy Minister Zaza Broladze, Deputy Chief of the Joint Staff COL Vladimer Chachibaia, as well as representatives from Troops Logistic Support Command and State Procurement Department inspected the military bases.
As Mr. Alasania underscored, military personnel must be provided with all the necessary conditions for training and everyday life to be able to perform their duties properly: “During these years we have developed a plan for rehabilitation or reconstruction of infrastructure. Civil works have already launched. Today, we have taken a tour of the whole Georgia to view the infrastructure under construction. This process will be strictly supervised in order the building works to be completed in time and to create favorable conditions for our soldiers, “ said the Minister of Defence.
Construction companies winning the MoD tenders are carrying out repair and construction works, arrangement of infrastructure and rehabilitation of external communication facilities.
The Minister of Defence carried out the monitoring of the military bases several months ago. Irakli Alasania got familiarized with the infrastructural facilities and received comprehensive information about the existing problems, on the basis of which construction works were initiated.
