Politicians commemorate August War heroes
Six years have passed since the Russian military intervention into Georgian territory, which is called the Georgia-Russia August War. It was the most tragic five days in the recent history of Georgia, which killed 228 peaceful civilians, 170 military servicemen, 14 police officers…
Today, the Prime Minister of Georgia went to the Mukhatgverdi Brothers` Cemetery to pay homage to those, who fell in the days of the August War. Prime Minister commemorated the fallen soldiers and spoke about the need to investigate all details of this military intervention. Gharibashvili said it was the obligation of the government of Georgia to provide fair and unbiased investigation as it is the direct request of the International Court of Human Rights.
`This information was announced by Tea Tsulukiani and it has been confirmed. There is a direct instruction from Hague the government of Georgia investigates the August War, otherwise, it will be investigated by the Hague Court itself. It is the obligation of our government to investigate this issue,` Gharibashvili said.

Tribute Paid to Fallen Heroes
6 years have passed since the Russia-Georgia War in August, 2008. President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili and Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili honored the precious memory of the fallen heroes at Mukhatgverdi Cemetery. Chief of General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces, Major General Vakhtang Kapanadze and Deputy Defence Ministers came to the Cemetery to pay tribute to the Georgian servicemen and remember their heroism.
Prime Minister, President and Major General Kapanadze laid a wreath at the memorial. The Guard of Honor of the National Guard was at the Cemetery along with the Military Band that performed the funeral march and the Georgian state anthem…

Defence Minister met with Georgian soldiers in Afghanistan
The Minister of Defence of Georgia spoke about the tragedy of August War 2008 at the meeting with the Georgian soldiers serving within the ISAD mission in Afghanistan. Irakli Alasania pays a working visit to the country, where Georgian soldiers are performing a peacekeeping mission. Alasania met with the soldiers at the U.S. military base Phoenix ; the Minister commemorated those Georgian soldiers, who were killed for protecting their homeland.
`We have lost 169 soldiers in August 2008 and we have lost our territories temporarily, but we have not lost what each of us has in the blood – dignity and the devotion to the homeland. Far away from the homeland, you are protecting the security of your country. To be a soldier is a heavy mission. I wish you fulfill this mission with dignity,` Irakli Alasania said.
