If you’re in the mood for salad at your next meal, you may be safer buying your own unpackaged lettuce than you are buying the packaged stuff, a new study finds. Why? Because bagged salad promotes Salmonella growth.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on November 20 that Turkey did not need to join the European Union "at all costs". Instead, it could become part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), or Shanghai Pact. The Turkish leader said he had already discussed the idea with Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev...
Trump believes that making America great again includes abandoning trade treaties that he claims have hurt the US economy and taken jobs overseas [Xinhua]
US President-elect Donald Trump confirmed the fears of many global leaders early Tuesday when he announced in a video posted on YouTube that he would abandon the Trans-Pacific Partnership the moment he got into office.
Calling the TPP unfair and damaging to US economic prospects Trump went on to say that he would negotiate bilateral trade treaties with different countries in order to bring jobs back to the US.

Only citizens can vote in the US Presidential elections, yet the impact is global.
The world is suddenly in disarray, in panic. A man notorious for his bigoted rhetoric, a man who believes in American exceptionalism, who wants to build the walls and to ‘restore order’, has been elected the 45th President of the mightiest nation on Earth. His nation is doubtlessly in decline; it is indebted and some would even argue, hopelessly bankrupt, but it is still the Empire, the sole one to this day.
This image, shared by "Ms. S.", explains why standardized tests, even those asking for "explanations," are so incredibly stupid. This child, whoever she or…

Author Says Norsemen Made It All The Way to the West Coast. Regular readers of TBR are well aware that the Vikings surely sailed in Hudson Bay and explored eastern North America, penetrating as far as what we now call Minnesota and the Dakotas and as far south as New England. (See the May/June 2012 and May/June 2015 TBR editions.) But wait—did they also navigate along the West Coast of North America? Here author Philip Rife brings us even more evidence of ancient European explorers in old America.
President-elect Donald Trump is set to make his mark on U.S. foreign policy. As a sign of the great anxiety that has taken hold across the Asia-Pacific, Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe has scurried across the Pacific to be the very first foreign leader to meet the president-elect.
With press reports circulating that the British Government plan to roll out the red carpet in 2017 for President-elect Trump with an invitation from the Queen for the billionaire mogul to stay at Windsor Castle, the British State is going full throttle in ingratiating itself with the incoming Republican administration. This pattern of behaviour conforms to the well worn, trite phrase of the Anglo-American «special relationship», a relationship which increasingly appears special to one side - the British...
“We have fallen into a self-defeating spiral of reaction and counterterror,” writes Mark Danner in his new book Spiral: Trapped in the Forever War. “Our policies, meant to extirpate our enemies, have strengthened and perpetuated them.” Danner – an award winning journalist, professor, and member of the Council on Foreign Relations who has covered war […]
The top 3 U.S. allies in Europe-- Britain, France and Germany-- all had significant political news over the weekend. With François Hollande's Socialist government flailing hopelessly and in terminal tatters, he hasn't even announced if he will seek a second term and many think that he's so unpopular that he'd be hard-pressed to even win renomination from his own party.

Until corporate media and the neoliberal establishment refused to acknowledge their direct role in the election of Donald Trump and threw a temper-tantrum about misinformation on social media to scapegoat blame, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg balked at the notion faulty reports circulating on social media had anything at all to do with the November 8th shocker...

Thailand is currently undergoing a sensitive period with the passing of the nation’s long-lived, revered head of state, King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Indeed, the mood across the country is somber, however, the actual business of the nation continues on with many Thais realizing that moving forward is the best way to honor their late king.
While observing the reaction of the Korean society to the victory of D. Trump in the Presidential elections, a great grief can be seen – the political circles of South Korea supported Clinton owing to Trump’s desire to increase the charge for maintaining the American contingent in the Republic of Korea as the bare minimum.

Was I lucky when I became the president of Reprise Records! The label had just debuted Green Day's Dookie and it was hurtling past gold and platinum sales. They reminded me of my favorite band, The Clash, in so many ways, not the least of which was a very genuine ideological perspective that encapsulated the ideals of the French Revolution-- liberté, égalité, fraternité-- and my first job was to persuade our European companies, which were ignoring the record entirely, that Green Day was for real. First stop: London. The chairman of our U.K. affiliate was condescending and steadfast.
By Robert Parry | Consortium News | November 21, 2016 Two weeks after Donald Trump’s shocking upset of Hillary Clinton, the imperious and imperial neoconservatives and their liberal-interventionist understudies may finally be losing their tight grip on U.S. foreign policy. The latest sign was Trump’s invitation for a meeting with Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, on […]

Would the US supply PKK/YPG with ManPads also? Let's entertain that as a possibility?ISIS does not fly planes! So we KNOW the supply of ManPads has nothing to do with the fight against ISIS! And is intended purely to escalate the war making, against numerous participants, in the region. A declaration of war on the part of the US!

The whole notion of Trump and "ethics" just doesn't mix. In his word, ethical concerns are for suckers and ethical codes are part of the hated and derided political correctness he and his supporters so detest. On some level, though, the NY Times and "polite society" are sitll looking at him through a prism of normalcy. Over the weekend, there was a lot of discussion of Trump's obvious conflicts of interest.

Sputnik – 21.11.2016 The EU leadership seems to be very anxious about the fact that some Europeans might not notice the influence of “sneaky” Russian war propaganda. I have again been watching the situation as it has unfolded over the last few days in regard to the war in Syria... And the REAL news reports, without the bullshit coming from the Jew spew media outlets, show that the Syrian government forces along with their Russian and Arab allies have been making some gains, finally, against the fraud US bought and paid for mercenaries still holed up in eastern Aleppo city.....
