Special counsel Robert Mueller‘s team made a major factual error in the indictment charging Paul Manafort and Richard Gates with multiple violations of federal law.

The far-right Fatherland party led by former Ukrainian Prime Minister and arch-opportunist Yulia Tymoshenko has moved to impeach the current Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
For anyone thinking that this represents a rejection of Poroshenko’s war of aggression on Donbass and his wider persecution of the large number of ethno-linguistic and cultural Russians living under the Ukrainian regime, this would be wishful thinking.

Though the decisions taken by Ukraine today – to legalise the radicals’ blockade of Donbass and to prepare action against Russian banks – are in themselves unsurprising, one interesting fact about them is the way they were announced.

The last few weeks have witnessed an acceleration of Ukraine’s downward slide.
Following the bitter fighting in and around Avdeevka and the angry telephone exchange between Russian President Putin and German Chancellor Merkel, an attempt was made to bring the fighting in the area around Avdeevka to an end and to arrange for a mutual pullback of forces to the starting lines.

Yulia Tymoshenko is best remembered as a totally corrupt Ukrainian Prime Minister who served under the equally compromised and corrupt President  Victor Yushchenko.
Although Yushchenko’s regime was more or less doomed to infamy from the start, having come to power in the wake of the so-called ‘Orange revolution’, Tymoshenko did her best to play all sides against each other, opting to lie prostrate under any world leader or domestic oligarch, in order to attempt to enhance her domestic standing and her personal wealth.

Though the fog of war sometimes lies heavy on fighting in eastern Ukraine, the latest clashes are something of an exception, with a reasonably clear picture of what happened trickling through (the Wikipedia entry on the battle follows the Ukrainian line, and is wrong and should be disregarded).

It has just been announced that, starting April 20, U.S. troops will start training troops of Ukraine’s Azov Battalion.

At 6.05 a.m., (GMT) on Tuesday April 1st, a correspondent on the BBC’s flagship morning news programme “Today” stated that Russia had “seized Crimea”, faithfully following the rampant propaganda being hysterically stirred from Washington and Whitehall and by newspapers ranging from the Los Angeles Times to pick-your-favourite-news-outlet land.
