(ANTIMEDIA) — Following the Las Vegas shooting, in which 59 people lost their lives and hundreds more were injured, YouTube is altering its search algorithms in order to suppress conspiracy theories about the event. From the Wall Street Journal:

There are lots of good strategies for beating both corporate and government Internet censors and snoops. These range from alternatives to Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, Facebook and Twitter — to direct subscriptions to authors and pubs — to setting up your own VPN. All are worth the effort.

YouTube has apologized after “mistakenly” removing videos portraying war crimes and other facets of the Syrian civil war by activists and opposition groups.
Last week, a number of organizations – including Middle East Eye, open source investigations site Bellingcat, and monitoring group Airwars – said that a number of their videos had been removed by YouTube for violating the platform’s “community guidelines.”
