One would expect the headlines would already be starting to scream. About North Korea that is. That is also, if one is not watching the permanent distraction programming of American media as Michael Cohen, perhaps the worst possible choice of witness, tries to save his tail from prison and malign President Trump at the same time.

Even armchair observers probably understood long before the Hanoi summit had even been scheduled that the gulf between the American and North Korean positions on denuclearization was probably too wide to overcome (after nearly a year of talks, the two sides are no closer to a deal).

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has penned an open letter to the people of the United States, warning that Washington is “willing to send their sons and daughters to die in an absurd war,” and that Venezuelan patriots “shall defend our homeland with all the pieces of our soul.” Maduro posted an image of the letter to Twitter, which he said would be delivered to the White House “to demand respect for our unwaivable right to peace.”

It’s a case of déjà vu The parallels between US military conquests in Vietnam and Afghanistan are uncanny. Afghanistan has since overtaken Vietnam as the longest war in American history. During both conflicts, narcotics production spiked to record levels, as did the availability of cheap heroin on the streets of North America and Europe. Notice how the mainstream media refuses to connect the dots. It’s not merely correlation – it’s causation.
