It will help all Democrats running in Texas if Beto runs against John CornynDemocrats only managed to flip 2 seats in Texas last year, one in Houston and one in Dallas. Nationally, Republicans let out a sigh of relief. Texas Republicans were-- and still are-- panicked. They saw how close some of their "safest" seats came to flipping-- and how poorly many of their biggest names did.

The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that 95,000 non-citizens are illegally registered to vote in Texas, and 58,000 of them voted in at least one Texas election since 1996. Non-citizens who are lawfully residing in Texas may obtain drivers licenses, but only citizens are entitled to vote.

Mike Siegel ran in 2018 in Texas' 10th district-- and he just announced he's running again... starting now. Last time he held entrenched Republican multimillionaire Michael McCaul down to a 51.1% win in a district with an R+9 PVI and where Trump beat Hillary 52-43%. The shift towards Mike Siegel in 2018 was 15 points, one of the strongest in Texas.

Would you call this a safe blue district? Obama beat McCain here 58-41% and then eviscerated Romney 60.3-38.7%. In 2016 even Hillary scored big-- 58.3% to 38.5%. TX-28 is just 15.9% white and just around 25% rural.

There are 5 counties in Texas with over a million people: Harris County (Houston), Dallas County, Tarrant County (Ft. Worth), Bexar County (San Antonio) and Travis County (Austin). Four are basically blue counties that elect Democrats. Tarrant, with nearly 2 million people, is the outlier. This was Trump's share of the vote in each:
