Blue America hasn't waded into too many Senate races this cycle. That's because our top concern is not replacing horrendous Republicans with somewhat less horrendous Democrats. Take my word for it, I feel confident that more-or-less-Democrat Mark Kelly will beat Trump-hugging incumbent Martha McSally in Arizona-- and go on to be almost as bad in the Senate as Schumer's last pick for Arizona, Kyrsten Sinema.

A few weeks ago, we looked at the vote in the House for the PRO Act-- Protecting the Right To Organze (H.R. 2474)-- which passed 224-194. There were seven anti-union Democrats who voted against the bill:

In 2018 an old friend of mine from the music business, Dayna Steele, ran for Congress in east Texas. She ran a really good campaign and raised $878,940 with no help on any kind from the DCCC. Many people see TX-36 as a hopelessly red district. Hillary only got 25.2% of the vote and the PVI is a daunting R+26.

Sane people don't think of the Green New Deal as "Fools Gold"As you may recall, Mike Siegel fought a tireless grassroots battle in the gerrymandered 10th Texas congressional district, which goes from northern Austin through the city's northern suburbs, across Bastrop, Lee, Fayette, Colorado, Washington, Austin and Waller counties all the way into the exurbs (Tomball, Bridgeland and Cypress) northwest of Houston.

As of January 29, Republican oligarch Michael Bloomberg-- who is spending a million dollars a day on Facebook ads alone and who has the largest paid campaign staff in American history-- had spent $24,090,200 on TV ads in Texas.

March 3 isn't just Super Tuesday for the presidential candidates, it is also the big day for many congressional candidates all over the country. One of the best candidates Blue America has endorsed, Mike Siegel-- who has the best chance to replace a toxic Trump enabler (Michael McCaul)-- needs some help with his field campaign. Electability: Trump is unlikely to lose Texas in November but a new Texas Lyceum poll shows that if anyone can beat him there, it's Bernie. Trump is leading Bernie 50-47% in Texas, a 3 point lead. Trump has a5 point lead over Status Quo Joe, an 8 point lead over Elizabeth Warren and an 8 point lead over Mayo Pete.

This story has a happy ending-- but it didn't always seem like it would while Kate Aronoff was writing it in real time last week in Austin. The big Texas AFL-CIO convention was considering which candidates to endorse for November.

The Texas AFL-CIO is meeting in Austin's Omni Hotel this weekend, the only union hotel in the city. On the umbrella organization's agenda is endorsing 2020 election candidates. Many locals already have done so but these endorsements are for the state organization. And there was a problem right from the start.
