Trump surrogate Sarah Palin was a guest on Jake Tapper's CNN show yesterday, where she endorsed efforts to defeat Paul Ryan's reelection bid back in Wisconsin because of his refusal to embrace Trump yet. "I think Paul Ryan is soon to be 'Cantored,' as in Eric Cantor," she told Tapper.

Paul Ryan figured it out before most Republicans did-- and way before Trump began threatening to provoke a riot if the Republican Establishment steals the nomination from him at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland in July. Ryan moved quickly to have guns banned from the arena, even though Ohio is a proud open-carry state, where homicidal Republicans can go to a bar and get drunk and shoot everyone in it.
A friend of mine-- a wise friend of mine-- told me she thinks Bernie's going to win the primary in a walk... but will lose to Trumpf, Cruz or Rubio because the Clintons will utterly destroy the Democratic Party, just as their dear friend Trumpf is destroying the Republican Party. Interesting proposition. The constitution purposely left out any mention of parties and the Founding Fathers were disdainful of their influence. Today we can see why; neither party deserves to exist.
The Koch brothers (and their dark money network) is part of the "anybody but Herr Trumpf" wing of the GOP-- with the money to fund an effort to destroy Trumpf's candidacy. But they'd rather not spend that money, not if they can watch him fall apart on his own, the way he did in Iowa Monday night.
The Republican establishment-- weepy (and alarmed) that their relatively mainstream candidates are attacking each other instead of Herr Trumpf-- still hasn't given up on their dream to pull a fast one in July when they have their convention in Cleveland.
Remember the bright red "Keep Calm It Won't Be Trump" memes floating around the internet as recently as two weeks ago? No more. Geoff Garin, head of Hart Research polled 160 political insiders about who they expected to see win the Republican nomination. Way back in October, 8% had chosen Herr Trumpf. Now 59% say the GOP nominee will be Herr.
That Republican shit-show Thursday night was the worst of all in the infotainment political series passed of as debates. I'll be honest, after the 20th or 30th rant about how Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton destroyed America, I just turned it off in disgust and went out for dinner. The six of them had nothing to offer America voters, just red meat to the pack of partisan jackels sitting in the audience, applauding whenever anyone said something about "bombing" or "destroying" or uttered something patently false from Hate Talk Radio about Obama or Hillary.
Something that's been circulating on the fringes of the political right, a new plan to undermine progressive accomplishments-- everything from consumer protections, health care, safe air and water, marriage equality... you name it-- is a crackpot scheme, called Convention of States to rewrite the Constitution. Someone told Marco Rubio about it and he endorsed it yesterday, hoping that can help him win over extremists in Iowa next month.
