The last offshore section of the TurkStream natural gas pipeline between Russia and the Mediterranean was put in place on November 20th. The order was given by both Presidents Vladimir Putin of Russia and Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey, in a ceremony celebrating the completion of this first stage of the pipeline’s construction.
Turkish President Erdogan did not reveal “the naked truth” as to who exactly killed Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi during a speech on Tuesday before the Turkish parliament, but as Zerohedge reports, Erdogan did raise important questions while providing the most detailed public statement yet on the killing, which corroborated several anonymously sourced reports that surfaced in recent days.
After a several-year-long fallout with Germany, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan paid a recent visit to several cities in the European country in an attempt to repair relations. Historically, Turkey’s greatest advocate in Europe has been Germany and with US-Turkish relations now at an all-time low, Erdogan is looking for friends.
Syrian jihadist groups in Idlib are rejecting the Turkish-Russian Idlib deal.
The jihadist faction, Huras al-Din has already rejected the agreement that requires radical terrorist insurgents in Idlib to withdraw from a demilitarized zone. Huras al-Din urged other jihadist factions to launch new military operations.
Huras al-Din is not the main Islamist militant group in Idlib, but its statement points to objections that may complicate the implementation of the agreement signed last week by Russia and Turkey.
