Last night, in her brilliant essay on the political dilemma facing the Republican Party over immigration reform (above), Rachel Maddow never mentioned California GOP congressman Jeff Denham, who represents the 10th congressional district, part for the Central Valley, including Modesto, Manteca and Tracy. The backward-looking Cook Report still claims the district has a PVI of R+1, even though President Obama's 50-48% win over McCain in 2008 grew to a 51-47% win over Romney in 2012.

Rachel Maddow's show last night-- another Chris Christie special-- was absolutely fantastic. I bet Christie wishes he could throw her in prison and throw away the key. She roasted him and his phony baloney high--priced "exoneration" slowly and meticulously over an open pit. There'sa 22 minute chunk of it below.

Earlier this week, Harrison Samphir interviewed Paul Craig Roberts regarding how mainstream media is twisting the facts about the crisis in Ukraine. You may remember Roberts as an Assistant Secretary of the Treasury under Reagan.

Always one of the craziest media circuses on the calendar, CPAC opens today at National Harbor, Maryland. Chris Christie waddled up to the podium about an hour late-- after lead-off candidates Ted Cruz, who talked about term, limits, "petrotyrants" (though not the Koch brothers) and abolishing the IRS, and Paul Ryan, who talked about being Irish. Although he conspicuously not invited last year-- too kissy-kissy with the demonized Obama-- the martyrdom of being caught breaking the law has made him a much sought after celebrity in Crazy Conservative World this year.

For the past several years, we've been pointing out how Buck McKeon has a bunch of worthless relatives who work as lobbyists, where they can trade on his name for their personal enrichment. This week Legistorm.com released a list of congressmembers whose direct relatives are also lobbyists-- and McKeon was only the second worst.

Earlier last December we looked at a tragic mess unfolding in slow motion in Ukraine. Back then there were already people demanding revolution, not reform. Simple look: the conservatives, backed by Russia, don't want anything to do with the EU. The more forward-looking Ukrainians want to break free of the Russian orbit and join the EU.

"Money is all over the place." Really? Watch that video from Thursday's Chris Hayes' MSNBC show above. That's the ugly sound of Republican class war against American families. That's why there are children who don't have enough food to eat. That guy in the bow tie and the canary yellow cardigan could have been reading a script from the days that lead up to the French Revolution. Admit it, you'd secretly watch him being guillotined if it was televised. And the accursed Tom Perkins too. He wasn't on Chris' show last night.

Maybe you read yesterday that the water in tens of thousands of West Virginia homes is still polluted. No perp walks for any of the culprits… certainly not in West Virginia. Kiley Kroh reported at Think Progress that 40% of homes in the area of the toxic spill are still testing positive for the chemicals that polluted the Elk River.

CPAC hasn't liked Chris Christie. They saw him as too mainstream or even "moderate." Now they see him as a potential cause célèbre that can be turned into a fundraising bonanza for right-wing groups hoping to milk their base of Foxified saps. Yesterday's Christian Science Monitor pointed out that right-wingers from Paul Ryan and Bobby Jindal to Hate Talk Radio sociopaths Mark Levin and Sean Hannity, who haven't appreciated Christie 'til now, are part of his cheering squad.

No one who reads DWT regularly wasn't already sure that Chris Christie directed the scandal now known as Bridge-gate. And of course he's been orchestrating the entire cover-up. Friday night, the NY Times broke the story that Christie has been lying his ass off from day one-- which only fools didn't already know.
