In my last column, I discussed Benjamin Netanyahu’s proclivity to deceive, cheat and lie. During my research, however, I came across an article by Israeli journalist Amira Hass, who had a different take on the issue.

Israel’s endless patter of propaganda always includes the refrain, “the Middle East’s only democracy.” The press does not think to ask how you can have a democracy with only one kind of person wanted as a voter and with only one kind of citizen enjoying full rights. Nor do they inquire about the millions who live under systematic oppression enforced by that “democracy.”

A simple question to be asked: Where is the native land of the jews before the jewish “god” of a burning bush suddenly popped its head in Sinai to “promise” the jews Palestine that was never ever their native home? …

The way is clear for Abbas to pursue a solution based on justice instead of engaging yet again in a lopsided political fudge concocted by some of the most dishonest fixers on the planet masquerading as ‘peace brokers’.

 
 

Washington’s response to the speech that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas delivered at the UN General Assembly last September 26 confirms that the bilateral Palestinian-U.S. relations are heading for stormy times.

 Dr. Marcelo Svirsky, an Israeli/Australian lecturer from UOW walked from Sydney to Parliament House in Canberra to present a petition for Boycott Divestment & Sanctions (BDS) demanding the government exclude relations with Israel in line with BDS until it abides by international laws.

The indifference shown by Messrs Obama and Cameron to the slaughter and unimaginable destruction that Israel – the self-styled “only democracy in the Middle East” with “the most moral army in ther world” – inflicted on Gaza a month ago is beyond sickening.

 Israeli writer Uri Avenery summed up Netanyahu’s pathological lying habits best: “Some do so only when necessary, some do it often, some, like Netanyahu, do it as a rule.”  It is also the rule that Israeli lies continue to go unchallenged in Western media.
