A sigh of relief was heard across Europe on Sunday night, as far-right candidate Marine Le Pen was beaten soundly in the French presidential runoff election, losing to centrist Emmanuel Macron 66 percent to 34 percent.
As European conservative governments are deploying authority and ignoring the forces of economics, it is likely that the problems facing their nations will intensify rather than decrease. Yet Europe’s liberal leaders seem more concerned with punishing Britain than solving their own problems.

It is sad that a nation defined by a great revolution has come to this: the docile copycat of a pseudo-ideological struggle at play elsewhere between globalism and nationalism. It is sad that in the country of Danton, Mirabeau, Montesquieu and de Gaulle millions have become resigned to their fate and submissive like farm animals.
