LANSING, MICHIGAN — While Democrats and Republicans went toe-to-toe for control of Congress, voters across three states voted to relax marijuana laws, resulting in a huge victory for the grassroots decriminalization and legalization movement.
With medical marijuana already legal in Michigan for several years, voters passed a ballot proposal on Tuesday to legalize recreational marijuana possession with 55 percent in favor of the measure. The measure made Michigan the first Midwestern state, and the tenth state within the U.S., to legalize recreational cannabis.

WASHINGTON  — Democrats have regained control of the House from President Donald Trump’s Republican Party in the midterm elections, powered by a suburban revolt that has threatened what’s left of the president’s governing agenda.
But the GOP added to its Senate edge and prevailed in some key races for governor Tuesday, beating back the potential of big Democratic gains across the board. The “blue wave” that some had feared from Election Day never fully materialized.

So much for a blue wave. Of all the three possible election result scenarios, Trump made midterm history, with a good overall Republican showing, by adding key seats to the GOP Senate majority, winning key Governor races, and losing the House in a moderate fashion.
According to the Gateway Pundit, thanks to President Trump Republicans picked up 4 new Senate seats on Tuesday with wins in Florida, Missouri, Indiana and North Dakata.

Republicans no longer hold both wings of the US Congress, and Democrats now have the numbers to veto President Trump’s proposed laws in the House and launch a string of damaging investigations into his administration through the committees they will control.  

In a move civil rights groups denounced as a blatant attempt by the Trump administration to intimidate minorities, spread hysteria about non-existent voter fraud, and suppress turnout, the Justice Department announced on Monday that it is dispatching personnel to “monitor” 35 voting locations in 19 states during Tuesday’s midterms

Throughout history it has been hard for progressives and leftists, in the U.S. and outside the country, to get excited for U.S. elections. For a lot of progressives and leftists, the United States represents the biggest imperialist threat to real progress around the world, a role the country has had since the start of the Cold War.

The first caravan departed from Honduras one month ago and is now making its way through the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca.
More caravans have since formed from Honduras and El Salvador, and are following the lead caravan through Guatemala and Mexico.
At a press conference last Thursday, US President Trump reiterated his intention to take strong measures in response to the thousands of illegal migrants heading towards the US southern border. More than 5,000 members of the military have already been deployed, with the total number possibly reaching 15,000 troops.

A detailed scoreboard on candidates for the Senate and House of Representatives shows that 28 pro-Israel PACs and numerous pro-Israel individuals have given candidates millions of dollars in campaign contributions.
The scoreboard presents 29 bills and resolutions that were introduced on behalf of Israel. 20 passed into law or on-record statement, many by unanimous consent. The legislation has accrued a total of over 3,300 co-sponsors.
Over 80 congressional challengers have also accepted donations from at least one pro-Israel PAC; most from more than one.
