In a strange twist, Putin meets with Turkish Foreign Minister and Turkey’s Intelligence Chief (Video)

Russia President Vladimir Putin received Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and Turkish Minister of Defence Hulusi Akar in the Kremlin to discuss economic cooperation issues as well as the Syrian crisis.
In attendance at the meeting was the Head of Turkey’s National Intelligence Organisation Hakan Fidan.
The meeting comes on the heels of a recent report from Russian Television that asserts that the U.S. is positioning weaponry for a bombing-raid to punish Syria for a soon to happen Al Qaeda/White Helmets chemical weapons attacks.

According to breaking news, RT is reporting that the US will be sanctioning Turkish officials over the detention of an American pastor. The officials targeted under the so-called Global Magnitsky Act are Turkish Justice Minister Abdulhamit Gül and Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters.

Turkey to police anti-Chinese sentiments in domestic media in solidarity with Beijing

While many in global media focus on Turkey’s relationship with its neighbours, reports have generally neglect the fact that Turkey’s relationship with China continues to grow in a generally positive trajectory.
Turkey remains one of Eurasia’s most important supporters of One Belt–One Road along with Russia and Iran and recently Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu affirmed Turkey’s willingness to strengthen fraternal relations with China during a meeting with China’s foreign minister Wang Yi.

Sources in Turkey have named the United Arab Emirates as one of the main culprits behind the failed coup attempt against the regime of Recep Tayyip Erdogan which was launched in the summer of 2016.
Turkey initially blamed the exiled political Islamist and cleric Fethullah Gülen who was an erstwhile ally of Erdogan’s before the two fell out. Turkey now considers Fethullah Gülen’s movement a terrorist sect which is proscribed in Turkey.
