Did Turkey Just Sacrifice Their Own Troops to Protect Al-Qaeda?

After 33 Turkish troops were killed in a Syrian army offensive on February 27 amidst the current Russia-backed campaign to liberate Idlib, Erdogan responded by laying the blame entirely on Russia and Syria – successfully avoiding all mention of the uncomfortable fact that Turkey has been protecting radical terror networks not only in Idlib but across Syria as a whole for years.
During this time, Islamist forces within Turkey favorable to Assad’s overthrow have been attempting to play a complex game of geopolitics for which they are totally unqualified.

Mercenaries are nothing new. They have been around as long as warfare itself. Until the 19th century mercenaries were commonplace. However, in the late 1800s countries started to outlaw mercenaries and to forbid their citizens from going to join mercenary units abroad. Despite legislation against mercenaries they still thrive. The plague of mercenary activity is felt across Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and in various African countries.

Yemen Continues Military Progress as Native Mercenaries Abandon Saudi Coalition

AL-DALI, YEMEN — Throughout Yemen, drivers are queuing up for hours hoping to get a can of fuel from overcrowded petrol stations.
