Pennsylvania Cop Cleared of Embezzlement Charges Through First-Time Offender’s Program Wants Job Back

A Pennsylvania cop accused of embezzling thousands of dollars from the Police Athletic League is now asking for her job back, saying she was innocent of all charges.
However, the court did not find Harrisburg police officer Jennie Jenkins innocent.
She simply avoided trial by agreeing to enter into Dauphin County’s Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition Program for first-time offenders, which enables citizens charged with non-violent crimes to avoid criminal charges.

Alabama Cop Acquitted of Excessive Force That Left Indian Man Paralyzed

Madison police officer Eric Parker has escaped the hands of justice for a third time.
This time, U.S.District Judge Madeline Haikala granted an acquittal motion by the Alabama cop’s attorneys. Hence, ending the federal civil trial for Parker permanently.
However, Parker, who has been on paid suspension since last year, challenging the department’s decision to fire him, is still facing a misdemeanor assault charge for the incident as well as a civil suit from the victim’s family.

Seattle Police Settle $174,000 Lawsuit with KOMO-TV

The Seattle Police Department thought is was a good idea to refuse to release dash cam video to a Seattle-based television station.
Now the police department will foot the bill on a $174,000 settlement to KOMO-TV.
KOMO-TV made a slew of public records request of dash cam video that were suspected of excessive force by Seattle police. But instead of following public records law, the Seattle Police Department used a frivolous statute to deny a records request of the videos in question.

Florida Police Department Sued for Beating Man after High Speed Chase

The Boynton Beach Police Department in South Florida is being sued amidst claims several of their officers brutally beat a man in August 2014 after a high speed chase.
The plaintiff, Byron Harris, alleges in the suit that he was severely beaten and that Boynton Beach Police Chief Jeffrey Katz wanted to get rid of the helicopter video that captured the beat down.
The lawsuit was filed this week. All charges against Harris were dismissed once prosecutors learned of the beating.

Miami Jail Guard Receives Probation for Throwing Scalding Water on Inmate

A Miami jail guard who threw a cup of scalding water on an inmate, leaving him with second-degree burns pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor battery today.
Charlise Daniels-Wadley, who agreed to resign from her position, received one year of probation and will be required to do 50 hours of community service.
The incident took place in 2012 after Daniels-Wadley got into an argument with inmate Joshua Wiggins, who was released from prison last month after serving two years for cocaine trafficking.
