Did child labor help make the food on your table?

Those with a peanut allergy should be warned that Kellogg’s has now recalled several of their snacks due to undeclared peanut residue. This new recall echoes the recent action taken by Hostess snacks who also recalled a large amount of inventory due to the same issue.

First General Mills announced its plans to label GMOs, and now 2 more Big Food companies are following the company’s lead. Both Kellogg’s and Mars will now label many of their products with the words, “produced with genetic engineering” if they contain GMO ingredients, starting in mid-April.
Big Food Finally Bows to Consumer Pressure for GM Labeling

The list seems to grow daily. The multinational ConAgra now joins General Mills, Mars, and Kellogg’s as a company which will label its products if they contain genetically modified ingredients. With Vermont’s mandatory GM labeling bill going into effect this summer, this is a decision more companies will have to make, and soon.

Your boycott of a company that uses GM crops in their food is working. As consumers continue to shun Kellogg’s for contributing to the Grocery Manufacturer’s Association and putting genetically modified ingredients in the food it offers (while sometimes claiming to be ‘all natural’), sales are plummeting again.

An independent lab has found that Kashi’s ‘healthy’ GoLean Original breakfast cereal (owned by Kellogg’s) is loaded with the herbicide chemical glyphosate. What’s more, it actually contains 6x the amount of glyphosate previously found in Kellogg’s’ Froot Loops cereal.

The public doesn’t trust manufacturers like Kellogg’s and Kraft anymore. Earnings are falling, and dozens of Big Food companies’ stocks are down. One of the biggest food companies in the world, ConAgra, is even slashing its 2015 earnings projections. Is Big Food really over?

Championing consumers of the United States who refuse to eat GMO foods, Sunshine Natural Foods and Vitamins is boycotting Kellogg’s, including the Kashi brand which was touted as ‘organic’ by the company, but was exposed as fraud. Sure, it’s a small natural foods store in Grants Pass, Oregon, but it counts!
