  Sunday morning, Trumpist chief of staff Mark Meadows, a former neo-fascist congressman from North Carolina (whose district is about to be flipped by Moe Davis), was on State of the Union fighting with Jake Tapper about the pandemic. As U.S. daily cases have spiked into the 80 thousands on both Friday and Saturday and as the death toll hurtles towards a quarter million, Meadows admitted the Regime isn't really trying to defeat the pandemic the way countries like China, South Korea, Japan and Taiwan have.

  This morning, the NY Times editorial board asserted that Trump destroyed the Republican Party. They're wrong. The craven, spineless politicians who represent the party destroyed it.

Polling has shown that almost a third of Americans believe whatever Trump says. Despite Trump's delusional bragging at Fox's Scranton town hall on Thursday, the Trump Regime has entirely botched the American response to the coronavirus pandemic. Testing is the key to community transmission and less than 2,000 people have been tested, almost exclusively people with symptoms or known exposure.

I went to college at Stony Brook University in Suffolk County. Before I started school there, Democrat Otis Pike was the congressman. And when I graduated in 1969 he was still Suffolk's representative in Congress, a job he kept for another decade. I was never a big fan. He was too conservative and way too militaristic-- and at the height of the Vietnam War. When he retired he was succeeded by a far right crackpot, William Carney, best known for having been the first member of the Conservative Party to serve in the House.

Sometimes I check Google for my least favorite Members of Congress to see what they've been up to.
