War is not a foregone conclusion or a national necessity. Each successive occupant of the White House only needs you to believe that in order to centralize the power of an increasingly imperial presidency, stifle dissent, and chip away at what remains of civil liberties.

In 2017, I wrote a lot about how dangerously centralized our political system in the U.S. has become, and how we need to decentralize governance in order to restore power, liberty and policy experimentation to the local level. This notion that a sprawling and culturally diverse nation of 325 million individuals should constantly battle to the death over the ring of political power in Washington D.C. so as to impose their view on the other half of the country which completely disagrees is patently ludicrous.
On Wednesday, Obama addressed income inequality. He called it “the defining challenge of our time.” He did so disingenuously.
Throughout his tenure, he’s transferred America’s wealth to corporate interests and super-rich elites. He stole it from ordinary people doing so.
Even Wall Street Journal editors said “few presidents have done more to increase inequality than he has.”
