Lendman: ‘Lights, Camera, Action, False Flag in Syria’

By Stephen Lendman
The die is cast in Syria. The mother of all battles to eliminate US-supported terrorists in Idlib province looms.
During a Tuesday Security Council session, Russia’s envoy Vasily Nebenzia repeated what he, Defense Ministry spokesman General Igor Konashenkov, and Syrian UN envoy Bashar al-Jaafari stressed earlier.

Nikki Haley Confirms US Will Now Attack Syria for “Any Attack” on Idlib

WASHINGTON — The Trump administration now seems poised to launch an attack on the Syrian government in response to any type of military operation targeting Syria’s Idlib province, according to U.S. Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley. Speaking on Fox News on Wednesday, Haley stated that any Syrian attack on Idlib, regardless of whether or not chemical weapons are allegedly used, would be “dealt with” and provoke a U.S. response, before ominously warning the Syrian government, “Don’t test us again.”

UN Commission: Syrian Opposition Forces Should Leave Idlib

A UN commission has called for Syrian opposition groups to leave urban areas in the northern province of Idlib in order to prevent an attack from the Syrian government and its allies.
The UN Commission of Inquiry on Syria Chief Paulo Pinheiro made the suggestion yesterday, echoing UN peace envoy Staffan de Mistura’s comments last week.
“Most of those terrorist groups and other armed groups, they are in the cities. Perhaps one wonderful scenario is: leave the cities,” he said.

Turkey Increases Weapon Support to Militants in Northern Syria

On September 12, a senior Free Syrian Army (FSA) commander told the Reuters news agency that Turkey has stepped up weapon supplies to militants in northern Syria to help them to fend off an expected attack by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies.

They pledged complete Turkish military support for a long, protracted battle … These arms supplies and munitions will allow the battle to extend and ensure our supplies are not drained in a war of attrition,” Reuters quoted the FSA commander, who recently met with Turkish officials, as saying.

UN Commission on Syria Says Rebels in Idlib Should Leave to Protect Civilians

(MEE) — A UN commission on Wednesday said rebel groups in Syria’s Idlib province should leave urban areas to protect civilians from a looming government assault. “Most of those terrorist groups and other armed groups, they are in the cities. Perhaps one wonderful scenario is: Leave the cities,” said UN Commission of Inquiry on Syria chief Paulo Pinheiro. Hany […]

There’s at Least One More Ugly Battle Brewing in Syria

Already 30,000 people have fled their homes in northwestern Syria in anticipation of battles that are seen as inevitable. These people—according to the United Nations—have moved across the province of Idlib, which borders Turkey, many entering camps set up by humanitarian organizations. The United Nation’s Office for the Coordination of Human Affairs says that as many as 800,000 people might[Read More...]

Turkey Sends Troops, Weapons, Tanks to Idlib in Support of Syrian Rebels

(ANTIWAR.COM) — Turkish officials announced Wednesday that they sent hundreds of additional special forces, along with tanks, armored vehicles, and other equipment across the border into Syria’s Idlib Province. They are intended to reinforce Turkish military posts in northern Syria. Turkish officials say that the intention is to deter the Syrian military from launching an offensive against the […]

After Warnings of Mass Murder and Catastrophe, Robert Fisk Prowled the Idlib Front Lines

Every journalist would like to start a report with the words: “All quiet on the western front.” Or the eastern front. And I had actually scribbled “all quiet on the northern front” in my notebook, on my rural way to the far northern village of Kansabba on Syria’s front line opposite Idlib province, when an artillery piece in the forest banged off a shell over our heads. It took 25 seconds for the sound of the explosion – on the hills to the north-east – to echo softly back to us through the trees. Then a second round. And a third. A few Syrian soldiers on motorcycles purred along the road.

Turkey is Helping Al-Qaeda in Syria and Nobody is Talking About It

Ankara has sent more troops into Idlib in a move that is clearly a joint operation between the forces of Turkey and Al-Qaeda. (GPA Op-ed) — Over the last week or two, things have been getting tense in northern Syria, near the last large “rebel” enclave in the region around and inside the city of Idlib. Currently, […]
