GORKI (Russia) (Sputnik) – A number of European banks will join the financing of Russia’s liquefied natural gas project in coming months, the board chairman of Russia’s Novatek gas producer said Thursday.

The dispute between the US and Germany over the anti-Russian pipeline provisions of the new sanctions law continues to mount, with RT reporting Klaus Schaefer, a German businessman whom it describes as the CEO of German energy major Uniper fiercely denouncing the new sanctions as a ploy to force Europe to buy expensive liquified American natural gas instead of cheap Russian pipeline gas

On 25th July, a united Congress issued a new round of economic sanctions against Russian, Iranian, and North Korean industries, ignoring US President Donald Trump’s provisions, and after last month’s attempts stalled due to unintended economic consequences.
Donald Trump continues to strike a pragmatic tone about Russia while also hammering home his point that Vladimir Putin would have preferred a Hillary Clinton Presidency because she was “weak”.
Trump has told the press what he plans to ask the Russian President the next time they meet.
Answering questions on his recent flight to France Trump said,
RT’s Editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan has spoken before Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
In an impassioned speech, Simonyan spoke of the dangers of fake news media which she correctly lumped together with western mainstream media as a destabilising force of global mis-information.
She sated,
“We can only tackle this (fake news problem) together. In this case, together and with the help of Chinese media”.
The Foreign Ministry of Germany and the Chancellor of Austria have released a joint statement condemning new anti-Russian sanctions which were recently passed by the US Senate by a majority of 98 to 2. Only Rand Paul on the libertarian right of the Republican party and Bernie Sanders on the vocalist left of the Democratic party voted against the measures. Interestingly, both men were candidates in the primaries of the 2016 US Presidential election.
