House Campaign Spending Record Shattered-- GA-06 Could Cost $40 Million

Handel was smart enough to prevent any photos with the toxic Trump but... this happenedIn 2000 the Democratic grassroots was hot to get revenge on House Republicans for impeaching Bill Clinton. One obvious strategy was to target the 13 House Republicans from the Judiciary Committee who served as "managers" (prosecutors) during the process. But most of them were not really good targets.

Planned Parenthood Support Much Bigger Than Trump Support In Many GOP-Held Districts

Polling for the runoff in the GA-06 race to replace Tom Price is very tight-- incredible for such a red district-- and Jon Ossoff is slightly ahead of radical right Republican Karen Handel-- 48-47%. Republican outside groups-- primarily the NRCC, the Chamber of Commerce and Ryan's shady, corporately-financed SuperPAC, the Congressional Leadership Fund have already spent over $7 million tearing Ossoff down and trying to bolster Handel.

Luck Of The Draw-- Jon Ossoff Winds Up With A Truly Despicable Opponent

That was thenWhen 30 year old Jon Ossoff first jumped into the race, no one knew who he was and pundits were speculating that the GA-06 jungle primary would probably lead to two Republicans facing off in the June runoff. Instead, despite millions of dollars in negative campaign ads paid for by Paul Ryan's superPAC, Ossoff came in first-- by a mile, 92,390 (48.1%) to former Secretary of State Karen Handel's 37,993 (19.8%).

Jon Ossoff's Big Win In Deep Red GA-06-- Runoff With Anti-Choice Fanatic June 20

Trumpist candidate Bruce LeVell fails to get past 0.2%. Sad!GA-06 is the best educated district held by a Republican congressman in the whole country. They don't like Trump there. But instead of keeping a low profile, Trump was blithely tweeting away this morning and even did an attack ad robo-call, making it clear to everyone that the contest today was a referendum on Trump. Turnout was very high-- over a third of registered voters.

With Less Than A Week To Go, Republicans Are Turning Their Big Guns Towards Georgia Now

Last night James Thompson, a progressive Democrat ignored-- as progressive Democrats tend to be-- by the DCCC and the rest of the corrupted Democratic DC Establishment, came close to winning a congressional seat in a beet red Kansas district. Had the DCCC helped fund Thompson's race, he would likely have won-- as he did in Sedgwick County, the biggest county in the district. Many Democratic activists are excited because-- with no establishment help at all-- Thompson closed the gap since November from Trump's 27 point win over Hillary to just 7 points.

One Week From Today: Tax Day And The GA-06 Special Election-- And, Yes, They Are Connected

Tax Day is nearly here-- April 18. When right-wing Congressman Tom Price was confirmed by the Senate as Trump's Secretary of Health and Human Services, Georgia Governor Nathan Deal decided to make Tax Day the date of round one of the special election. That's one week from today. The Republicans had every intention of making the election about their usual claptrap about "tax and spend Democrats," something fewer and fewer rubes still fall for. The brand new Brave New Films video is exactly the tie-in Jon Ossoff needs to be pushing in GA-06.

Fighting Trump-- Even Where The DC Democrats Refuse

This morning I read that despite the DCCC ignoring the Rob Quist congressional race in Montana, Bernie says he's willing to go campaign for him there. Remember, although Montanans went for Trump over Hillary last november Bernie won Montana 274,120 (56.5%) to 174,521 (36.0%), Sanders won the Montana primary 51.1% to 44.6% and his brand of progressive populism is still very popular in the state.
