As The Duran just reported moments ago, “with almost 50% of the votes counted, reports from the Anadolu news agency suggest that President Erdogan is looking to win the referendum on enhancing his constitutional powers by a margin 58%-42%.”
We are now reporting that around 75% of ballots have been counted, with reports from Turkey’s state-run Anadolu news agency saying that the “yes” votes are leading with 54.6%.

Turkey votes today in a referendum that could give President Tayyip Erdogan sweeping new powers in government, giving the President unprecedented control of the country.
Opinion polls give the “Yes” vota a narrow lead, but polls have been anything but reliable this past year.
The referendum will turn Turkey’s parliamentary democracy, into an all-powerful presidency which could keep Erdogan in office until at least 2029.
The cause for concern is obvious and real.

The long talked-about referendum in Turkey will happen on April 16th. In effect voters have to decide whether the president, Recep Erdogan, in theory the incumbent of a relatively modest political post, should now be given the powers of the president and prime minister together.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s rhetoric is at times, oddly honest, sometimes blatantly so.  At other times, when he attempts to be more analytical, it is as deceptive as his political and geo-political manoeuvring.
Last year, Erdogan gave an speech in which he declared his unambiguous intentions to capture former territories of the Ottoman Empire, specifically parts of the legal territory of Syria and Iraq.

It is the only Muslim-majority country in the NATO alliance and was inducted along with Greece back in 1952. One of the goals was to create a political bridge between Western and Arab nations that could improve relations in the region.

(ANTIMEDIA) Russia has had a busy month regarding its affairs in the Middle East. On March 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The next day, Putin met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and on March 14, Russian Deputy Minister Mikhail Bogdanov met with Libyan General Khalifa Haftar’s envoy in Moscow.
