Sobchak: Liberals hope to make gains in Russia

Ksenia Sobchak may have won more than her 1.6% of the vote in the March 18 elections seems to say. Although Mrs. Sobchak lost, in part as her campaign surely took some kind of hit because of her emotional breakdown under the furious slander of Vladimir Zhirinovsky during last week’s presidential “debate” program, her margin is significant and may be something of concern in Russia’s future. This, even though this time around Mrs. Sobchak carried the highest unfavorability rating, at 82% in this election season.

Dutch politician praises President Putin… and President Trump

One might have come to think that all of Europe has really striven to become a “superstate” under a mutual commonwealth type of government, or rather, thinly disguised socialism. But in the last two years we have seen signs of discomfort with this system, with Brexit and the advance of increasingly popular nationalist movements within several European countries. Christian Church Leaders Close Church at Jesus’ Burial Site Over Israeli Taxation

Jerusalem: Christian leaders closed the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, built where it is believed that Jesus was buried. The closing was in protest over new taxes by the Israeli government. Church officials say this is an attempt to weaken the presence of Christians in Jerusalem.

Sweet Jesus’ Ice Cream Parlors Mock Christianity and Fetishizes Children in Advertising

A Canadian chain of ice cream shops called 'Sweet Jesus' mocks Christianity and fetishizes children in advertisements and decor. Its logo features an inverted cross and a stylized S used in Satanic symbolism. The same people who support these stores would protest bitterly if they ridiculed any other religion. [For example, Canada has a law against Islamophobia but not Christianophobia.] [...]

Vladimir Putin portrayed as national saviour during Russian Presidential race

The BBC reported the interesting direction portrayed in President Putin’s campaign for re-election in March of this year: Man of the Church.
This to the “enlightened” Western media is undoubtedly taken as a quaint or primitive gesture, but in today’s Russia, this is a significantly important theme, whether a person is a believer in the Russian Orthodox Church or not.
