Bashar al-Assad

On 11 September, 1965, Bashar al-Assad was born. His father Hafez al-Assad became the Presidnet of Syria in 1970 and launched the reforms known as The Corrective Period, designed to alleviate the political turbulence of the 1960s.
Upon the death of Hafez in 2000, Bashar won his first Presidential election. He has continued to court the support of Syrians ever since.
Today, terrorists fired missiles at the city of Al-Qurdaha in northeastern Latakia, the birth place of al-Assad and home to many in his extended family.

September the 11th, 2001 was a dark day for the United States and since then, this darkness has enveloped the world like an ominous cloud, leaving behind it a seemingly perpetual trail of blood that shows no signs of abating.

SYRIA — (War Diary) — In early 2016 the hillside town of Madaya, just northwest of Damascus, was the focus of sudden Western and Gulf media campaigns featuring harrowing photos of emaciated elderly and children splashed widely across print, online and social media.

There is no such thing as a good war, but there are occasionally such things as just wars. The Syrian conflict is a variation on the second theme. Syria prior to 2011 was a country at peace, it was a country that was stable, it was a country that was placid. Of course, the Syria of 2011 was imperfect and one only needed to listen to the speeches within the People’s Council of Syria to realise that.

Any form of constructive dialogue with the West and its regional allies will only be possible after they stop supporting the terrorists, Syrian president Bashar Assad has said. He also cautioned that it’s too early to talk about victory in the conflict despite recent gains by Damascus.
