2016 presidential race

As we mentioned a few days ago, the American Psychiatric Association is telling it's members it isn't ethical to tell voters that Trump is mentally ill-- many say dangerously so-- without examining him personally and then getting his permission to release the findings.

There's been a steady stream of stories all of last week about how the RNC is "mulling" the idea of if-- or some even claim "when"-- they need to just give up on the self-destructive narcissist dragging down the whole party. Maybe Team Hillary is pushing the narrative. Or maybe the permutations of the large and growing #NeverTrump people are.

The Wall Street Journal headline indicated more bad news for Campaign Trumpanzee: Trump Running Mate Mike Pence Tries to Get Republicans on Board. It's midway through August and the parties should be united and reaching out to independents.

I haven't asked the other writers at DWT what they plan to do at the ballot box in November. Personally there's nothing that would ever move me to vote for someone I feel is unfit to be president, so that lets out Trump of Hillary. I would never vote for either of them under any circumstances. I've given up on lesser-of-two evils voting (and not even "at least she's not a psychopath" will work for me).

Since 1948, when Utah voted for Truman 54-45%, there was just one time when the Beehive State went Democratic. In 1964 only the 5 most racist states of the Old Confederacy plus his home state voted for Goldwater. The the rest of the country, Utah included, went blue. Utah gave Johnson an even bigger margin than they had given Truman-- 55 to 44%.

It's not likely that Señor Trumpanzee will be campaigning in WA-08 this year. The Seattle suburbs and exurbs aren't fertile ground for him and, to put it mildly, the Republican congressman in the district, Dave Reichert, doesn't want Trump getting anywhere near the any media markets where his constituents will have reason to connect the two of them.

How lucky is Hillary Clinton that the inept, bumbling, stumbling Trump campaign is no match for her incredibly well-honed and utterly ruthless Machine. Team Trumpanzee has allowed Clinton to turn the 2016 campaign into a referendum on him.
