The Paris Agreement and, more generally, climate change policy, almost perfectly illustrate the contradictions of the post-modern industrialized world risk society, characterized by perceived threats confirmed by politicized science and governed by sub-politics beyond democratic control. – Lucas Bergkamp

Once the international tribunal delivered its verdict for the former President of Republika Srpska, Radovan Karadzic, Western political and media circles have been ecstatic. The verdict was greeted with particular enthusiasm by UK Prime Minister David Cameron, who stated that war crimes shouldn’t go unpunished.
Tom Clancy was one of the most popular spy authors of all time, but was he a spy himself? What are the nature of his government connections? How were the film adaptations of his novels supported by the Pentagon and the CIA? What script changes were made by the DOD in exchange for their support? In Part I of this two-part podcast we examine five Tom Clancy films - The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, The Sum of All Fears and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.

Has the Obama Administration found the perfect crime that it thinks will allow it to finally grab the vast Iraqi oil riches while no one realizes what’s going on? If what I feel is building up in recent weeks over Iraq’s largest hydroelectric dam, Mosul Dam, is true, Washington is planning to let the dam soon blow, or even covertly blow it, releasing enough water to flood as far south as Baghdad and take out major Iraqi electric power generation, agriculture and oil production.
The vicious attack on the Brussels airport and metro underscores the futility of focusing on the Syrian “Caliphate” as the epicenter of terrorism: as I’ve been saying in this space since 2001, the snake has no head. Both al-Qaeda and now ISIS are protean entities with a vast geographical spread, and what the Brussels attack […]

Russian pilots and planes flew more missions with less equipment than the US has done since the Cactus Air Force began operating out of Henderson Field on Guadalcanal in 1942. I don’t hate America and have huge respect for American pilots, the best in the world, and American combat aircraft, maybe not the best in the world but the best the corrupt Pentagon will allow the best pilots in the world to fly.
Peter King should retireDuWayne Gregory is the presiding officer of the Suffolk County legislature. In 2010, New York redistricting moved Peter King's Nassau County district significantly east into Suffolk County, and a significantly bluer part of Suffolk County at that. King is a longtime political ally of Steve Israel and the DCCC has never challenged King and has discouraged local Democrats who have.
A recent meeting between Turkish President R. Erdogan and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani spawned a new rhetoric in Turkey: Turkey will be able to compensate for any shortfall in the Russian gas supplies by increasing imports of Qatari LNG. According to this logic, any new contracts for LNG supplies signed with Qatar can now provide a substitute for the gas that Turkey currently buys from Russia – and it provides around 56% of the country’s demand in natural gas.

Sputnik — 28.03.2016 The European Court of Justice (ECJ) has scheduled an emergency hearing to investigate the United Kingdom’s recently adopted Investigatory Powers Bill on its compatibility with EU law, UK media said. It’s the quiddity of human nature. To think and to dissect and to parse that which is apparent and real and not which is gift-wrapped and force-fed via mythology and folklore. While the world burns, while terrorism infects humanity, while hate and dissension and distance rule the day you can always post some syrupy and saccharine pic about peace and sunsets and bunnies and feel like you’ve done something. Forget historicity, e.g.
The other week, feeling sick, I spent a day on my couch with the TV on and was reminded of an odd fact of American life...

Came across this news item yesterday, but waited until today to post it. Despite it being a breach of my two day break! So, I enforced a one day break anyway ;) Readers here may recall my mentioning these sanctions were not as far reaching or damage imposing as something the US could and has imposed on nation after nation. For the simple reason that Russia would/could not cut off it's nose to spite it's own face. The US has that luxury. Russia not so much.
By James Petras :: 03.26.2016 Introduction: Obama’s nomination of Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court marks a continuation and deepening of the lopsided ethno-religious representation in the US judicial system. If Garland is appointed, Jewish justices will comprise 45% of the Court, even though they represent less than 2% of the overall population. Roman Catholics […]

I'll attribute it to bad staff work, but Friday night Rachel Maddow misled her audience into thinking the viciously anti-LGBT bill that the North Carolina legislature just passed, HB-2, was a strictly party-line vote. True, the leadership in both chambers of the legislature is Republican and true, the Republicans pushed this bill through from beginning to end.

Sunday.... Easter Sunday in fact, and time once again for my weekly rant..Yes, I am still on vacation, and I stated that I would ONLY take a bit of break away from a break to do this week's rant.... And once again as with my other vacation times it appears that when I take a break the world definitely goes to "hell in a hand basket".....OK... Lets not beat around the bush here with this most ridiculous and most obvious false flag attack in Brussels Belgium last Tuesday... It was most definitely a set up and absolutely a preplanned and orchestrated attack...

By Wayne MADSEN – Strategic Culture Foundation – 27.03.2016 Europe has experienced another Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorist attack. Several congressmen who endorsed Hillary early on have told me they wish they had never done so and had just remained neutral. "My record obviously has a lot more in common with Bernie," one told me. "I wish I had never endorsed her... I hope the voters here forget I ever did it." I bet, on one level, Jann Wenner wishes he had never sullied his magazine's credibility by endorsing the candidate that has been soundly rejected by people under 50.
