Ron Fein, attorney and author who co-authored book about impeaching Trump, talks about the looming Senate trial of Trump.Fein is co-author, with John Bonifaz and Ben Clements, of The Constitution Demands It: The Case for The Impeachment of Donald Trump and the legal director of the nonprofit Free Speech for People.
With the trial starting on January 21, we examine the roles of senators and the Chief Justice, and ask if GOP senators will honor the oath they just took to "do impartial justice according to the Constitution".
We talk about the battle over witnesses and evidence, including the recent allegations by Lev Parnas.  Like PBC, Fein believes the articles are too limited in scope, but that the Ukraine scheme is a serious, impeachable offense.
Fein says there are rumors on Capitol Hill that Republican senators my push for secret ballot voting, in which case many Republicans would join Democrats in voting to remove Trump from office.
