Syria. Idlib. Chemical Weapons. US will challenge? UK Gravely Concerned? Will There Be Air Strikes?

Wash, rinse, repeat. Yup, that's the latest from Syria. Again. The US SAYS that Assad used "chemical weapons" aka Chlorine. Mike Pompeo aka  Mike Pompous makes the claim*Link Pompeo said on September 26 that the strike took place on May 19 in Latakia Province."The United States will continue to pressure the insidious Assad regime to end the violence directed against Syrian civilians," Pompeo said, referring to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.  *Link “The United States will not allow these attacks to go unchallenged, nor will we tolerate those who choose to conceal these atrocities,” he added, without previewing any retaliation. Pompeo*The UK has "grave concerns" about this alleged attack."Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said in a statement that Bashar Al-Assad’s “track record of using chemical weapons against the Syrian people is an appalling stain on his regime and the countries that support him.”Raab added that the U.K. has “grave concerns about the chemical attack in May in Syria.”*France "light must be shed on chemical weapons use"  "U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Thursday the United States had concluded that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s government used chlorine as a chemical weapon during a battle in May with insurgents in Idlib."The US/UK and France are all in alignment- Will there be airstrikes?I'd say the likelihood of strikes occurring is definitely looking highly possible. Not due to these most recent, unsubstantiated allegation, rather because of what's been going on diplomatically.Which, with any luck the back stage will be front and center in an upcoming, promised post. *US undermines settlement in Syria by accusing Damascus of chemical attacks — diplomat

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin told reporters on Friday. "It seems strange to us that every time some positive shifts happen, first of all in the political process, statements emerge that may undermine the improvement of the situation in Syria," Vershinin said.

Yah, strange how that works? It's something I've noticed repeatedly. Definitely not a coincidence.Go back to May of this year. When this allegation first surfaced. And yes, it was reported here. See below.

U.S. Says Signs Syria May Be Using Chemical Weapons- Response Will Be Quick

“Unfortunately, we continue to see signs that the Assad regime may be renewing its use of chemical weapons, including an alleged chlorine attack in northwest Syria on the morning of May 19,” State Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus said in a statement.

“We are still gathering information on this incident, but we repeat our warning that if the Assad regime uses chemical weapons, the United States and our allies will respond quickly and appropriately,” she said."

Now the US and friends are stating they've got the evidence. They have "concluded" that Assad used chlorine. As my post ended in May, this one ends on with the same observation...Gotta say I'm getting that feeling the US and friends are looking for an excuse. Any excuse.

Don't forget that the US now has at least 16 bases in north eastern Syria- They can surely launch attacks from within Syria easily at this point in time.
