(ANTIMEDIA) Las Vegas, NV — While the world is sifting through the details of what caused Stephen Paddock to, according to the official story, open fire on a crowd of over 20,000 people on Sunday night in Las Vegas, another wrinkle in the story has emerged.
One week before the fateful concert in which 59 people lost their lives and over 500 more were wounded, the shooter wired $100,000 to an account in the Philippines, reports NBC.
Authorities have established that Paddock’s girlfriend, Marilou Danley, was a native of the Philippines but are not saying if they believe the wire transfer was meant for her, her family, or a party completely unrelated to his partner’s origin.
Eric Paddock, the suspect’s brother, says he believes the transfer was intended for Danley.
“One hundred thousand dollars isn’t that huge amount of money,” Eric Paddock said. “Condemn Steve for gambling. Steve took care of the people he loved. He made me and my family wealthy.”
The sibling believes his now infamous brother may have “manipulated her so that she was far away from this and had money,” Eric Paddock added. “As he was descending into hell…he wanted to take care of her.”
Stephen Paddock had “the highest status” at Caesars Entertainment properties in Las Vegas, a source told NBC News. It has also been reported that the killer was independently wealthy via various real estate investments and spent the majority of his time gambling.
