This is an extremely odd story; Lacking in details and written to obfuscate!Below is the National Post article- It informs us the man was picked up with a bunch of other foreigners and placed under arrest- The early CBC report had one odd sentence, which is now removed. ISIS has been arrested. Notice that all claims of this man fighting with YPG are presented in past tense. And the spoon fed narrative is derived from one woman who is allegedly still fighting with YPG.Also no mention of the charges. Nothing.
A Canadian army veteran who fought with Kurdish forces in northern Syria is being detained in Iraq, according to two acquaintances who said the former Vancouver resident was arrested along with five other Westerners.
He fought, but, was not fighting presently with Kurdish forces. He is a former Vancouver resident- When? How long has he not been a Vancouver resident? What is his home address presently?
“We are aware of the arrest of a Canadian citizen in Iraq,” said Rachna Mishra, a Foreign Affairs spokeswoman. “Canadian consular officials at the embassy of Canada in Amman, Jordan, are providing consular assistance as required.”
Hanna Bohman Hanna Bohman, a Vancouver woman currently with the Kurdish forces, said the Canadian was a volunteer with the People’s Protection Units, or YPG, the Syrian Kurdish militia battling the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.
“Yes, he’s YPG,” she said.
NP-Bohman said she met him at a YPG training facility as he was leaving Syria for Iraq. He was taken into custody in northern Iraq late last month along with a Swede, two Spaniards and two Americans.
CBC-Bohman said the Canadian man was detained in northern Iraq in late October along with a Swede, two Spaniards and two Americans, the Post reported.them a doctor, she said.
Bohman? Her tale is short on details. Very short. Why am I getting a dual nationals vibe?
CBC- The newspaper cited Hanna Bohman, a Vancouver woman currently with Kurdish forces, as saying the arrested Canadian had volunteered with the People's Protection Units, or YPG.
He HAD fought with YPG, but, who was he involved with when he was arrested? Not YPG that much is clear! And why did CBC remove the sentence explaining ISIS had been arrested in Iraq- Was it to obfuscate for the fact the man, and other foreigners were picked up fighting for ISIS?This "Canadian" being arrested in Iraq late last month dovetails quite nicely with this news report: Israeli Colonel Leading ISIL Terrorists Captured in Iraq- October 22/2015
Iraqi security and popular forces have caught an Israeli colonel from Golani Brigade along with a number of ISIL terrorists, a commander disclosed on Thursday.
The security and popular forces have held captive an Israeli colonel," a commander of Iraq's popular mobilization forces said on Thursday.
"The Zionist officer is ranked colonel and had participated in the Takfiri ISIL group's terrorist operations," he added.
Noting that he was arrested along with a number of ISIL terrorists, the commander said, "The Israeli colonel's name is Yusi Oulen Shahak and is ranked colonel in Golani Brigade of the Zionist regime's army with the security and military code of Re34356578765az231434."
He said that the relevant bodies are now interrogating the Israeli colonel to understand the reasons behind his fighting alongside the ISIL forces and the presence of other Zionist officers among ISIL terrorists.
CBC removed the incriminating sentence before I could get it saved, but, nonetheless I read it and no doubt others did too!
