PINAC: It’s Been a Good Run but Now It’s Time for a Change

A few weeks ago, I posted a comment in our private Facebook Newsroom group informing the PINAC team that I will mostly be quitting soon because the site is not just financially sustainable.
The group, consisting of about 100 members, mostly volunteers, a few paid writers and investigators, were not happy with the announcement and stated they would do what they could to keep it afloat.

New York Man Proves Suffolk County Red Light Camera Program Tricks Drivers into Citations

Stephen Ruth, dubbed the “Red Light Robin Hood,” has made it his mission to rid his New York county of its red light camera program, claiming it has led to several fatal accidents after the duration of the yellow lights were shortened to trick cars into citations.
The Suffolk County man has posted several videos to his Facebook page documenting the timing of the lights throughout the county. His videos seem to offer proof that yellow warning lights are much shorter at intersections where red light cameras are installed.

Taking a page from law enforcement, University of Missouri professor Melissa Click told investigators she was in fear for her life when she assaulted a student journalist, calling for some “muscle” to have him removed because she was under the impression that he was packing a gun and could have pulled it out on her.
She also claimed she found Mark Schierbecker “suspicious” because his camera was too small.

A North Carolina man recorded a shoplifter inside Walmart’s Wilmington location, only to be verbally harassed, threatened with arrest and banned by a clueless employee of the SuperCenter last Friday afternoon.
Jon Andrade thought he was doing the retail giant a favor by using his cell phone to capture a petty theft, when Walmart employees turned on him and demanded that he leave or be arrested for criminal trespassing on private property ending the encounter by telling the man that he is “Banned.”

Florida Town Clerk Calls PINAC Reporter “Asshole” for Making Public Records Request, then Lies About Photos She Took

PINAC reporter Jeff Gray conducted a public records audit at the town hall of Penney Farms last month, a tiny town in North Florida known more for its retirement community than its farms that describes itself as “one of the best kept secrets” in the state.
And judging by town clerk Anita Cooper’s refusal to comply with one of his request, it’s certainly living up to that promise.

Memphis Police Abuse Man; Local Media Blind to Abuse

The local media in Memphis captured a video of police chasing a man who surrendered, only for the Memphis police officer to strike him with a baton and kick him twice before planting his foot on the suspect’s back and handcuffing him.
It was a clear case of police brutality because the man had surrendered.
But ABC 24 was still not certain, so they had to turn to their “experts” to educate them.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the problem with corporate media these days.
