Spain pleads for emergency assistance funds to handle migrant crisis

As the migration route between Libya and Italy has experienced a crackdown, migration is now following a route to the EU through Morocco. With Spain realizing a high degree of migration from its southern coast, it is assessing an additional €35 million to accommodate the situation. Dozens of videos are making the rounds on social media showing the moment migrants boats land on a packed beach in Cadiz, Spain, and sprint up the sand as stunned tourists look on.

Spanish Prime Minister’s minority coalition loses budget battle

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez holds the reigns of power with the help a minority coalition with a very thin grasp. His tenure is brand new and now he’s in a position to test the strength of his ruling coalition in a battle of the wills on one of the most fractious of governmental issues: budget matters. Puigdemont commits to advance Catalonia’s independence

After being released from detention in Germany on a Spanish arrest warrant, the deposed Catalonian President, Carles Puigdemont, announced that he was going to continue to pursue the cause of Catalonia’s independence. Puigdemont made the statement at a joint press conference in Waterloo, the site of Napoleon’s 1815 defeat, and from where the cause for Catalonia’s independence will be orchestrated through a ‘Republican Council’, which he says that he is going to organize. Much of Puigdemont’s political activism will take place from Belgium.
