Julian Carroll turned 86 last April. He's even older than Pelosi, Hoyer and Clyburn-- and until this weekend he was the Democratic minority whip in the Kentucky state Senate. In 1968 he was elected Speaker of the Kentucky House and in 1974 he was elected governor of the state in a 470,159 to 277,998 landslide.

Most of the few Democrats the DCCC has backed there have been dreadfully corrupt conservatives like Pete Gallego, Vicente Gonzalez, Henry Cuellar and Filemon Vela. They were certainly openly hostile to Beto O'Rourke when he first ran for Congress in El Paso against another of their corrupt conservatives, Sylvester Reyes.

Earlier this morning, we looked at Bernie's rally in Morgantown and at West Virginia GOP Senator Shelley Moore Capito's statement that she's willing to cast the decisive third vote to kill TrumpCare in the Senate if it comes to that.

Yesterday we talked about why Beto O'Rouke spent two July 4th weekend days campaigning in deep red Lubbock and why that should serve as a model for Democrats everywhere. The Lubbock 4th of July parade is a big west Texas tradition.

Lubbock, Texas is the 11th biggest city in Texas, with a population of about a quarter million-- and over 325,000 in the metro area, one of the world's biggest cotton-growing areas. The mayor, Dan Pope, a Democrat, won his seat last year when far right Republican Glen Robertson retired. That part of Texas, though, is very red, very, very red.

Yesterday we embedded the TV ad the shady Trump-Pence SuperPAC, America First Policies, ran to slam Nevada Republican Dean Heller for standing up for Nevadans getting healthcare through the Affordable Care Act's Medicaid expansion and refusing to vote for TrumpCare.
