Much is being written and discussed on mainstream media with regards to the Paul Manafort verdict, and the Michael Cohen plea deal. MSNBC and CNN are crying impeachment every other second, while more measured and grounded analysts are unable to find how paying hush money to extortionists, from personal funds, affects Trump’s presidency in the slightest.

On Tuesday, August 21, Paul Manafort was found guilty for eight of 18 counts of criminal activity charged against him. None of the charges were in any way related to President Trump, his campaign, or Russian agencies.
Prosecutors claim that he deposited $65-million into foreign bank accounts between 2010 and 2014 while spending over $15-million on luxury purchases over the same time frame - including such things as real estate and a $15,000 ostrich jacket. [...]
Paul Manafort’s legal team rested its case on Tuesday without calling a single witness. This sets the stage for closing arguments before the judge hands the case to jurors for a verdict.
Manafort’s defense opted to call no witnesses, choosing instead to rely on the team’s cross-examination of government witnesses including a very devious Rick Gates, Manafort’s longtime deputy, and several accountants, bookkeepers and bankers who had financial dealings with Manafort.
The head of the Liberal faction in the European Parliament, Guy Verhofstadt, said that Europe needs its own special prosecutor, like the US-based Robert Muller, who is investigating alleged “interference” of Russia in the 2016 Presidential elections.
The provocative proposal was made on Verhofstadt’s Twitter account.
He said that in September, he will pressure the European Parliament to take measures to “clean up” the internet and social networks from alleged “Russian attacks”.
LONDON — New reports from a host of mainstream sources are asserting that the U.S. government — in its long-standing efforts to arrest and prosecute WikiLeaks editor Julian Assange — may have changed its strategy in pursuing the journalist. While past efforts at targeting Assange focused on his role as a publisher, this new strategy would see Assange targeted by Special Counsel Robert Mueller as an asset of Russian military intelligence.
