Regime Change

At this time sixty years ago Cuba had just won its revolution through a popular uprising that overthrew a dictator. Two years later in 1961 the US masterminded a false flag invasion of Cuba that failed. Later, in 1962 the Organization of American States (OAS) turned against Cuba and expelled it from the organization isolating the country until 2009 when the OAS invited Cuba to join again. Cuba declined. The US has maintained a progressively squeezing unilateral trade and financial blockade on the island since 1960.

WASHINGTON — Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif slammed U.S. aggression against his country on Tuesday, as top U.S. officials are in the Middle East coordinating anti-Iran efforts with regional players like Israel and trying to shore up support from Arab nations.
Zarif’s counterpart, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, was in Jordan on Tuesday and vowed to “redouble” U.S. efforts to counter Iran’s “malign influence” in the Middle East.

Leave it to liberals to pin their hopes on the oddest things. In particular, they seemed to find post-Trump solace in the strange combination of the two-year-old Mueller investigation and the good judgment of certain Trump appointees, the proverbial “adults in the room.” Remember that crew?

SYRIA — (First published in May, 2017) The fingerprints of U.S. imperialism can be found all over the manufactured insurrection in Syria, in keeping with the ultimate goal of destabilization and eventual “regime change”  through fomenting a sectarian civil war.  Former NATO commander Wesley Clark has gone on record as stating that Syria was on a list of targeted nations to be toppled by the U.S. as early as 2001.

The US had a great deal going from 1953 to 1979 with the Shah of Iran. For 25 years Iran was a cornerstone of the US usurping the British Empire in the Middle East, following World War Two. Iran was a base for projecting US power in the region, and strategically it bordered the Soviet Union during the Cold War.

US President Donald Trump ramped up the threat with a Game of Thrones meme warning Iran, with a November 5 deadline, that “Sanctions are Coming.” Qasem Soleimani, a Major General in Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, responded with a meme of his own that Friday with the message “I will stand against you.”

MIAMI – On Thursday, National Security Adviser John Bolton inaugurated the Trump administration’s version of the Bush-era “Axis of Evil” by singling out the three left-wing governments in Latin America – Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua – as the “Troika of Tyranny.”

Ahead of the United States’ newest round of sanctions targeting his country, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Sunday accused the Trump administration of “psychological and economic warfare” and of working toward regime change in Iran.
