If someone offered me a huge sum for the Blue America mailing list, I would tell them no. If they doubled the offer, I would tell them to go suck wind. Today I got an e-mail from a candidate in New York who I've never been in contact with, Aaron Woolf, a film producer from New York's North Country who is trying to hold a rough swing district for the Democrats.

Wednesday the House Budget Committee approved Paul Ryan's latest Ayn Rand Budget, which cuts trillions in healthcare spending and repeals the Affordable Care Act. "His budget," reports Hospital CFO, "would make significant changes to Medicare, reducing program spending by $129 billion over the next 10 years.
Oh no, is it really "Poopy Paul" Ryan's last cartoon budget? (Yes, he's term-limited out of the House Budget Committee chairmanship.)"On net, we estimate that the House budget resolution would decrease GDP by 0.9 percent and decrease nonfarm payrolls by 1.1 million jobs in fiscal year 2015, relative to CBO’s current-law baseline. The following fiscal year, the “Path to Prosperity” would decrease GDP by 2.5 percent and cost 3.0 million jobs.
Barbara Lee has been one of the most consistent, courageous and articulate voices in Congress on behalf of ordinary working families. Corporations and the one percent do not finance her career. She doesn't represent them. She's one of the handful of progressives who represent just plain folks who never even thought about going out and hiring a lobbyist. Needless to say, when Congresswoman Lee speaks out, the might of the plutocrats is arrayed against her.

I live in a rich zip code; there aren't any multi-family dwellings near here except a couple of condos where they charge over a million dollars for an apartment. So everyone in the neighborhood gets free copies of very glossy magazines from Modern Luxury-- as do rich zip codes in Aspen, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Honolulu, Houston, Miami, NYC "and the Hampstons," Orange County, San Diego, San Francisco, Scottsdale and Washington, DC. Apparently, that where the money is.
