Between 1994 and 1996, a Russian Federation weakened by internal political chaos fought the First Chechen War. The war was fought between the Russian armed forces and forces loyal to the self-proclaimed Chechen Republic of Ichkeria.
During the First Chechen War, one of the leading commanders of rebel forces was Akhmad Kadyrov. His battle field tactics helped win the war, forcing an uneasy truce with Russia.
Afghanistan’s official Ambassador to Russia, Abdul Qayyum Kochai has stated that he welcomes Russia’s role in mediating a diplomatic peace process in his country.
Abdul Qayyum Kochai said,
“We would like Russia to help the Afghans as well in order to achieve safety and peace in Afghanistan … We want the relations with Russia to be very good, despite the fact that there have been some problems throughout history”.
In many ways the moral, logistical and ethical simplicity of the Syrian conflict, meant that it was always destined to be the conflict that would wake up at least some in the west, to the nature of how the US and its allies often foment wars by aligning with the most immoral forces on the planet in order to attempt to achieve a geo-strategic goal.
Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Hua Chunying has held a press conference where she discussed recent events while taking questions from journalists. The overall weight of her remarks speak to the fact that China is getting increasingly fed up with India’s failure to engage in dialogue with China over the Doklam/Donglang border dispute as well as other areas of the China-India frontier whose demarcations are not universally recognised.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has voiced his country’s disapproval of Donald Trump’s military surge in Afghanistan.
Lavrov has stated,
“The main emphasis in the new strategy, which was announced by Washington, is made on settlement through use of force. We believe that it’s a dead-end approach”.
He continued,
Not too far away from Seattle, Washington there are eight ballistic-missile submarines carrying the world’s large shipments of nuclear weapons.
The 560-foot-long black submarines are docked at the Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor, hauling what is described by Rick Anderson in a recent Los Angeles Times article as “the largest concentration of deployed nuclear weapons in the US.”
During the height of the American war in Vietnam, an underground radical musical group,The Fugs released a song called Kill For Peace. The polemic meaning was a clear mockery of a US policy that involved dropping bombs on Vietnam under the guise of fighting for peace. The song’s message succeeded just as sure as the war in Vietnam ultimately failed.
When Donald Trump announced he hoped to work with both India and Pakistan to bring peace to Afghanistan, many eyebrows were raised. Not only are India and Pakistan regional rivals, but they have historically been on opposite sides of the prolonged Afghanistan conflict dating back to the 1970s.
With the existence of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), China, Pakistan and Russia are creating the next world order to rival the fading unipolar one. Several theoreticians have stated that the post-Cold War international system is unipolar but still no world order can remain valued for a very long period of time.
Washington has commanded the world for some time and, therefore, the creation of a strong coalition between China and Pakistan, with Russia also part of the coalition, provides a challenge to the present system.
